Memorecks, also known as James Peck, is a hip-hop/electronic producer and songwriter from Toronto, specializing in sound design and live performance. With a focus on drum machines and live instrumentation, he has developed a unique niche and is known worldwide in the beatmaking community. He has collaborated with acts like Zeds Dead, Saukrates, and Dom McLennon and has worked for companies such as Native Instruments and AKAI as a product specialist.
A long-time YouTuber with over 28,000 subscribers, Memorecks is renowned for his finger drumming performances and innovative use of technology. He has worked with organizations such as Darkspark, Camp Ooch, and Today’s Future Sound to bring his talents to youth across North America. In 2012, he joined Zeds Dead on a tour across Canada and has opened for acts like RJD2 and Run The Jewels in Toronto, playing at festivals such as Digital Dreams and Deadbeats.
Memorecks’ music has been featured in movie trailers, commercials, and ad campaigns, including the successful EOS lip balm campaign for the single “Bruce Wayne.” In 2016, he was nominated for a MuchMusic Video Award for the song “Collapse 2.0.” He has also released a full-length album with singer Jenna Pemkowski, with the lead single “Bruce Wayne” garnering over 6 million plays on Spotify alone. His work with the ‘VHS’ audio effect has been featured on countless blogs and downloaded over 60,000 times.
As a proponent for music technology and education, Memorecks has conducted and participated in numerous workshops and retreats for musicians and producers around the globe, with organizations like Today’s Future Sound, The Beat Academy, and Darkspark. He recently travelled to Nunavut, Canada with the non-profit organization Darkspark, to conduct songwriting workshops with grade 7 and 8 students.
Memorecks continues to create, with plans for multiple albums, collaborations, audio effects, synthesizers, and much more.
