Memorecks is James Peck, a hip-hop/electronic producer and songwriter from Toronto. From a young age, James developed a fanbase via sites like YouTube and Soundclick by posting beats and performance videos. Focusing on drum machines and live instrumentation, Memorecks has a niche of his own, and is known worldwide in the beatmaking community.
In 2012, Memorecks joined Zeds Dead and friends on tour across Canada, playing in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton and more. In Toronto, Memorecks would open for acts like RJD2 and Run The Jewels and play festivals such as Digital Dreams and Deadbeats.
In 2014, Memorecks was featured on the single “Collapse” by Zeds Dead, providing co-production and writing credits. The song was featured in movie trailers, commercials and had extensive radio play in the US and Canada. Later, in 2015, Memorecks would release a full length album with singer Jenna Pemkowski. The lead single, “Bruce Wayne” has been featured in a successful campaign for EOS lip balm, and has garnered over 2 million plays on Spotify alone. Memorecks has also done production work for Canadian artists such as Saukrates, Tona and Maylee Todd.
On the technical side, Memorecks is a part time product specialist for Native Instruments, and has done work for AKAI Pro. As a proponent for music technology and education, he has conducted and participated in numerous workshops and retreats for musicians and producers around the globe, with organizations such as Today’s Future Sound and The Beat Academy. More recently, Memorecks traveled to Nunavut, Canada with the non-profit organization, Darkspark, to conduct songwriting workshops with grade 7 and 8 students.
